ABSTRACT

When the editors wrote to me presenting the book's layout, they wrote:

The concept for the book originated from international research that we’ve been undertaking since 2009, across nine countries into the career trajectories of older women, focusing on their learning and employment pathways and the careers support to which they have access. Findings have emphasised the need for a more nuanced understanding of women’s labour market experiences to be gathered from the voices of older women about their experiences across their working lives. In turn, hearing their voices could stimulate the development of theory, policy, research and practice that is more responsive to their needs.
