ABSTRACT

The engineering properties of lime or cement stabilized soils have been extensively studied by highway engineers since the 1960s. However, the purpose of their stabilization was to improve sub-base or sub-gradematerials and the stabilization was characterized by the low water content of the original soil and a small amount of binders. Mixing a few percent of binderwith respect to the dryweight of soil is enough to change the physical properties of soil in order to enable efficient compaction that follows the mixing.
