ABSTRACT

The One Laptop Per Child 1 (OLPC) Foundation (2013) is a not-for-profit organization originating from research conducted at the Media Lab (Papert 1980, Kay and Goldberg 1977) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At the heart of the OLPC program lies the desire to provide rugged, low-cost, low-powered, connected laptops with customized software to the children of the developing and disadvantaged regions of the world. It is hoped that the program will both stimulate and encourage collaborative, joyful and self-empowered learning for all children, everywhere.
