ABSTRACT

The day the world appeared to pause and understand the frailty of human life since 1945 was 11 September 2001 when members of an Islamist terror organization named al-Qaeda (the base) and led by Usama bin Laden launched a series of attacks on New York and Washington. Hundreds lost their lives on the planes that were hijacked and driven by the hijackers into buildings that symbolized American military, economic and political power. Thousands died as a result of the attack. The American people experienced a direct sense of terrifying vulnerability, but the shock waves were felt world-wide.
