ABSTRACT
The collection of methane gas from landfill sites is another option for obtaining energy from wastes. There can be problems with toxic materials leaching out from landfill sites into the local water courses, but, since landfill sites exist in large numbers it would seem better to gather the gas
they produce, rather than letting it leak out and contribute to global warming. This also reduces the risk of explosions at the landfill site.
