ABSTRACT

The field of gifted education has frequently been perceived as elitist and a burr in the side of educators who promote egalitarian practices, such as inclusion and a common curriculum for all. Yet the field has made many advances in promoting cultural diversity and identifying students from culturally diverse backgrounds, and these should be viewed as positive signs. Gifted children should be found and nurtured in every cultural group in the world today. Thoughtful educators must be vigilant and sensitive to the processes that can be employed to make that happen and have the will to carry it out.
