ABSTRACT
As I sit down to write this chapter in my home, helicopters deployed by the New York City Police Department circle my block and apartment building. This continues for one hour and the noise at times escalates, causing me to stop my work and contemplate the reality of helicopters circling my residence. Such a scenario is similar to scenes I imagine in occupied territories or in war zones abroad.
