ABSTRACT

The aim of this book has been to explore varying perceptions on youth policy and social inclusion in the UK, including the perceptions of young people themselves. What this book has highlighted is the possible discriminatory attitudes and practices of ‘adults’ which may serve to exacerbate rather than alleviate young people’s social exclusion from the wider society. The postscripts to each chapter challenge orthodox views about youth policy, whilst confirming the fact that such policies are often misplaced in attempting to engage and integrate young people in our society.
