ABSTRACT
Rigoletto sings these lines in Verdi’s opera as he takes revenge on the Duke, for stealing and defiling his daughter, by arranging a contract on his life. The assassin asks Rigoletto for his name and the name of his victim. Rigoletto identifies his victim as crime and himself, the avenger, as punishment.
