Women’s Studies in Iran: The Roles of Activists and Scholars

Although the women’s movement has a long tradition in Iran, women’s studies is a relatively new subject in Iranian universities. It was first established as an MA degree and a multidisciplinary field of study in 1999, with the first students attending classes beginning in September 2000.
