ABSTRACT
In this paper I analyze ways in which feminist organizations in Puerto Rico articulated their claims for political power and a concept of citizenship that includes women. I discuss how the concepts of nation and citizenship were incorporated within feminist discourses on abortion and sterilization and ways in which they reaffirmed and/or deconstructed nationalist, colonialist and patriarchal concepts of political power.
