chapter  8
Promoting positive outcomes for children and young people in care
Pages 15

As we have seen throughout this book children in care face many challenges in their lives, which often ad an extra dimension to the day-to-day issues faced by other children and young people. A fundamental function for all the professionals working with children and young people in care is to address the health and educational inequalities that they face. These young people will often start from a position of disadvantage in relation to health and education related to their pre-care experiences. It is important that the care system redresses these disadvantages so that young people do not accumulate disadvantage during their time in care.
