ABSTRACT

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is an increasingly important health problem in most industrialized nations in the Asia-Pacific region. Underlying the development of CAD/cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the process of atherosclerosis, of which the hallmark is the accumulation of plaque in the vessel wall. Complications can result in occlusion of vessels, typically due to rupture of the plaque and thromboembolism.
