ABSTRACT

It is no longer enough to rely on luck, natural processes and the spin-offs from management for other groups to supply the needs of invertebrates.

(Kirby 1992)

One must question what value there is in monitoring invertebrates to demonstrate changes that are obvious by casual inspection or botanically, until there are detailed studies that correlate changes in the composition of the indicator species with comparable changes in the conservation value of the whole invertebrate fauna.
