ABSTRACT
I will cover the following five topics in this chapter: first, my own context from which I speak; second, the new experience of a slowdown in economic expansion; third, the incredible boom and bust of the “dotcom;” forth, the impact of the tragic events of September 11; and fifth, a look at our industry and its fundamentals. In closing, I will offer some perspectives on what all of that means.
