ABSTRACT

Themes of money allocation to the common good and the individual give a concrete expression of the internal relationships between the spouses from the reciprocity and justice perspectives. According to the study, joint management was by far the most common type of administration — 82 per cent of the Swedish families in the study had some form of joint pooling. Furthermore, questions were asked regarding the management of bills, in other words, who makes the payment and makes sure it is on time. Different models emerge in the analysis of couples’ organisation of their finances. The couples frequently advocated the principle of having joint finances, but in practice it was revealed that divisions of various kinds were often made within the framework of what was considered to be the joint economy.
