ABSTRACT
Made from clays composed mainly of silica and alumina with small amounts of lime, iron, manganese, etc. Several different types of clay are used for brickmaking, producing a variety of bricks with a wide range of colours, textures and strength. A few bricks are still hand moulded, but the majority are machine pressed or wire cut.
