ABSTRACT
Epilepsy is the most common of the neurological disorders. The most complete epidemiological study, from Rochester, Minnesota, reports an age-and gender-adjusted annual incidence of 49 per 100 000 population, with peaks both in the first year of life and in senescence, and a lifetime cumulative incidence of 3% by age 80 years (Figure 2.1).
