ABSTRACT
The complications of coronary stenting, including thrombosis and restenosis allow room for significant improvement in product performance.1 Several animal and clinical observations revealed a possible proliferative effect of stainless steel, e.g. by release of nickel ions.2 Thus surface modification of stents may provide a solution to these adverse effects.
