ABSTRACT
Taken as a generic term, patient education covers a wide range of
activities aimed at helping people to learn how to self-manage their
disease. Essentially, it refers to a process of psycho-education, which
the Delphi Group1 has defined as:
A planned learning experience using a combination of
methods such as teaching, counselling, and behaviour
modification techniques which influence patients’ knowledge
and health behaviour.
