This paper stresses safety and accuracy in guiding surgeons to abnormalities that were detected by mammography but cannot be palpated. This results in minimal risk to the patient, little cosmetic deformity, and a high probability that the lesion can be removed without sacrificing an inordinate amount of breast tissue.
