These battles will continue to be fought. Perhaps the best defence is for archaeologists to make sure they complain vociferously when TV gets it wrong. C4 science and the BBC have to be seen to have credibility. If the discipline lets the broadcasters know it is unhappy I believe this can have an influence if the criticism is constructive and shows awareness of the realities of TV production. Too often criticism can be seen as sour grapes or academic elitism.
