ABSTRACT
In 1996 the Trust for Wessex Archaeology decided to appoint a community officer with the aim of expanding their existing outreach work. Initially the post was part funded by English Heritage but in 1998 the Trust decided to continue funding the post in full. In 1999 the post of community officer was made permanent.
