ABSTRACT

Following the assessment of a learner’s abilities as suggested in the previous chapter, it should be possible to plan appropriate starting points for intervention. This chapter provides some additional strategies and techniques suitable for use at various stages of reading development from beginner to post-secondary school level and with students who may have disabilities. These additional strategies might be included within the general language and reading programme of the regular classroom, or used to match the specific needs of individual students engaged in individual tutoring sessions.
