ABSTRACT
Social capital is one of few concepts which are truly common to all social sciences. This book mainly deals with the role of social capital in sociology, whereas Van Deth et al. (1999) deals with social capital in political science. This essay discusses the link to economics (see also the contribution to this volume by Riedl and Van Winden).
