Some authors have argued that Darwin’s discoveries have no bearing on the strength of the AD. Others see them as dealing the AD a fatal blow.3 Darwin’s discoveries are indeed centrally relevant to the AD, as we shall see. But to see exactly why and how this is so, it is necessary to sketch a little background information.
