ABSTRACT
After 30 years documenting the West Indian community in Birmingham, I felt the need to include and document other cultures as well. Recently there have been a number of new people who have settled in Birmingham after escaping persecution in their own country-immigrants from the Third World’ thankful for the opportunity to start their lives again. I have chosen to look at the Somalians and Kurds as well as those who were here in earlier years. These photographs are a way of showing how each respective group have adapted within their city and transformed their environments.
