ABSTRACT
In addition to his accomplishments as author, composer, and performer, Liszt was the foremost piano pedagogue of his day; he also influenced keyboard performance practice and the development of the piano and other musical instruments during the middle decades of the nineteenth century. Studies dealing exclusively or primarily with Liszt pedagogy, performance, and instruments are described below. Certain reminiscences and related works that also deal with these topics are described in Chapter 4.
