ABSTRACT

We know that the probability of a tossed coin falling heads up is 0.5, but we cannot predict what the result of tossing a coin once will be, because each toss is unique and is effectively a random or stochastic event. Similarly we may know the proportion of flowers that will be pink from a particular cross, but we cannot predict which color each individual plant will produce, we must examine it to see. Probability theory allows us to calculate what we expect to get.
