ABSTRACT

Susan Collins is a new media artist whose projects have often worked with anonline public and enabled them to engage with a ‘real’ space. She creates theunexpected in her works and presents them in ways, or places, that offer humorous interjections into daily life. In her early video works she would frequently position images that were surreal or slightly off-key into a public space, such as a walkway or a public meeting area. These projections would disrupt the logical everyday flow of life, the patina of normal routines, in simple but beguiling ways. The result might be that people would talk with each other about the work that they had seen.
