There are two im portant qualities of P o rt’s journey that offer a useful departure point for our own journey into critically exploring the relationship between tourism and the m odern subject. One is the paradoxical nature of P o rt’s quest. The other is the way Bowles fashions a landscape of seduction upon which this paradox is revealed and played out.
