ABSTRACT

Pressing concerns about energy security have pushed states across the world into a resource search frenzy, and India is no exception. All necessary means are being adopted ranging from amending existing domestic polices wherever required, to exploring viable options overseas. India, being the world’s sixth largest energy consumer in the wake of robust economic development, industrialization, rising population and rapidly growing numbers of vehicles on the road, needs a comprehensive energy security regime. Steadily a realization has set in that the state alone would not be able to effectively address the challenges energy security poses, and therefore needs to engage the private sector as well.
