Globalization reflects the deepening of market relations across the globe. The new international division of labour that came into existence in the 1970s as corporations decentralized parts of manufacturing has now been extended to high and low paid services and perishable agricultural commodities, to take advantage of different time and climate zones as well as lower cost labour. These developments have been facilitated by continued improvements in ICT and have contributed to the feminization of employment.
