ABSTRACT

Special Needs of the Population Buddhism appears to many to be a very pragmatic religion. It has no place for metaphysical speculation about first causes and contains no true “theology” or worship of a deity. True Buddhists do not attempt to deify the Buddha but rather see him as an exceptionally wise or holy man who came to deliver a message. Buddhists take a very straightforward look at their human condition. Buddhist parents, for instance, would probably look askance at a counselor who attempts to explain a child’s behavior by offering numerous psychological explanations. They would probably prefer a very simple description of what has occurred and what the preferred behavior might be.
