ABSTRACT

Because of the interrelationships among the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual dimensions of every human being, it is imperative that mental health professionals address all the dimensions, including the spiritual. Research states that an individual spends at least one third of each day at work. Because interpersonal relationships in the workplace can determine the level of satisfaction and feelings of fulfillment, the practitioner can explore with the client just how productive and happy he or she reports to be. If, on the contrary, the person’s work lacks meaning and purpose, the individual may risk his or her health and mental wellness. Counselors who do not address the spiritual dimension could possibly be omitting an essential aspect that could contribute to the client’s overall well-being.
