ABSTRACT

To you and me, browsing is a loose variety of searching. However, at the start of Chapter 3 I had to dismiss the meaning of ‘searching’ that you or I would use, i.e. simply looking for information by any means available. Instead, that chapter focused on the specific use of the word ‘searching’ as something that a computer does for you, i.e. trawling through some kind of database in response to very brief input about what you want to find.
