ABSTRACT

The use of advanced technologies in learning has had more influence on workplace practice in the last thirty years, than on the education industry. The term 'e-learning' used to refer to formal courses of instructional learning and self-instruction via computer-mediated materials. However, there is recognition now that the Internet can be used for informal learning too. The best e-learning, in this context, is: just-in-time -available for the users when they need it to complete the task; on-demand - available when they need it, not in a couple of days time, or a week or a month; bite-sized - available in small chunks that take only fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. E-learning opportunities of both types are available to you for both your professional development as well as to support your classroom practice.
