ABSTRACT

This chapter starts from the premise that any teaching, be it enhanced by Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or not, in order to be effective, i.e. maximise student learning, needs to be based on a good understanding of learning and on insights from educational psychology. Its aim, therefore, is to explore the potential of ICT in relation to some of what is known about how we learn as a basis for sound pedagogical decisions about when and how best to use ICT.
