Much of the excitement and interest in the sub-field of regional studies within the broad domain of international business is currently focused on China and, to a lesser extent, India. To business practitioners, academics and students, the emergence of these states has aroused considerable interest primarily because of their tremendous potential in terms of trade and investment and because they represent two-fifths of humanity and are benefiting from shifting power within the global economy.
