ABSTRACT
The major family preoccupation of the eighteen months of Cicero’s absence was the search for a new husband for Tullia. The letters give us a reflected image of what Tullia and Terentia did in Rome. If we first see what the letters tell us of what Cicero knew and planned, we shall be able to reconstruct, in part, the actions and experiences of Tullia and her mother.
