ABSTRACT

You switch on your computer in the morning and connect to the internet. You have to check immediately if your colleague has sent you the file s/he promised: you open your mailbox and look through the new messages: it’s OK, your colleague’s message is there, with the file attached. You open the attachment and check it: it’s good work, you just need to make a few changes in order to deliver it to your client. You can make them later. Now you check the other messages in your inbox: some newsletters, a couple of spam messages you immediately delete (‘Some spam messages can always pass the anti-spam filter!’), one message from a friend of yours who invites you to go to the cinema (‘Unfortunately, I planned to play a session of Ultima Online tonight’), and finally some work messages from your colleagues and clients. You immediately reply to the few messages that require an urgent answer, make a phone call to answer verbally to an e-mail, then check your agenda: the video conference is at 11.00; you therefore have some time to finish writing a report you have to deliver by tomorrow.
