ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the visions and worries young people have regarding their future, the visions young people have about the future of Europe, and the degree to which Albanian young people endorse multiculturalism, self-efficacy, European identification, and participate in behaviours related to the EU. The Albanian youths have limited participation and representation in politics and decision-making processes. Their voting rate in elections has decreased, especially when it comes to rural and remote areas. Young people are a great human resource for improving life in Albania and for increasing the progress of the country. The young generation is living under the prolonged transformation of the Albanian society and is facing numerous obstacles. Leaving Albania has become the only future alternative for many young people. Since the past couple of years, Albania is facing a historic level of brain-drain – the emigration of young, educated people.
