ABSTRACT
The “classic” understanding of the title sequence is balanced between antithetical roles as credits or as being integrated with narrative. Obvious and self-evident distinctions between the title or credit sequence and the narrative sequences of the drama, commonly identified with the separation between the “paratext” and main text, serve to separate the titles from other types of commercial production. This introduction establishes the foundations for the theoretical analysis of narrative exposition in the title sequence.
