ABSTRACT
This chapter will be a concise narrative overview of the Holocaust. It will encompass briefly the Christian and racist background to Nazi antisemitism; early Nazi antisemitic policies in Germany; the Kristallnacht of November 1938; the invasion of Poland; the evolution of the Final Solution; Operation Barbarossa and the Einsatzgruppen; and the death camps. Additional sections in the chapter also look at both the causes and the consequences of the Holocaust.
