ABSTRACT

The following list does not profess to be exhaustive, but is intended rather to indicate those books from which the greatest help was obtained by the writer. The classification may need a few words of explanation. As was observed in the opening chapter, some reference to the pioneer work of the “Scientific Management” school of the U.S.A. is essential to the proper understanding of the present economic position of Industrial Psychology in this country. The books given under this heading are but a small selection from the flood of literature with which the American markets were inundated. They are, however, sufficient to give what Taylor was pleased to call the “philosophy” of the movement and the criticisms made on the spot by capable observers.
