ABSTRACT

The professionalism has changed its nature and a new attribute is necessary for the manager who would aspire to be a professional decision-maker. The manager has his experts to assist him in implementing his responsibilities. Neither can the manager divest himself of the responsibility for choosing the right method of solving any particular problem. The numerate manager is concerned with the elements of a problem only as elements, and must consider them completely objectively. Management, as always, will adapt itself to the results of the change and managers will acquire the necessary new attribute of numeracy. In the meantime, the existing managers will need to rely on their own efforts to provide themselves with the attribute of numeracy, in the realization that in the field of decision-making there will be no place for any but the numerate manager.
