ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide a preliminary overview of the phenomenon of femicide and the current legal flaws afflicting three relevant criminal doctrines: the doctrine of provocation, the felony-murder rule and the doctrine of self-defense. The overview of these three criminal doctrines will focus on their mode of application in the United States in general and in the U.S. Model Penal Code (MPC) in particular, as well as on their compatibility to the proper treatment and prevention of femicide.
