ABSTRACT

Once PBS and CPB received news of Ready To Learn grant funding for the 2010-2015 grant, the people began their search for a preschool math series through a competitive solicitation process. Given the 2010-2015 Ready To Learn Television Grant Program's emphasis on developing story-driven content using multiple platforms, the people decided to produce not only a television episode but three story-related digital games. The integrated production process enabled them to create continuity of story elements across the platform, sometimes leaving loose ends in the broadcast episode that could be resolved or further explored in digital. Together, the constant vetting and the iterative development process allowed Oxley, Aronson, and the entire production team to remain close to Ready To Learn's target audience and ensure an optimized learning experience for all. Their collaboration with teams across departments and disciplines was not just successful but enhanced the production process.
