ABSTRACT
South Carolina was selected for the southern colonies, specifically the area around Charleston and the Ashley River. Charleston, South Carolina, much like tidewater Virginia, is closely associated with the Civil War and many sites are interpreted for the antebellum period or Reconstruction, rather than the eighteenth century. The other sites are owned and operated by non-profits and private entities such as the National Trust, Middleton Place Foundation, Historic Charleston, and The Charleston Museum. Individuals only have so much time to spend on their vacations and weekends and they use the Crowd-sourced apps to make decisions based on user ratings to maximize time, cost, and relevance to their interests. Reviews and ratings were a commonplace way that individuals in 2018 made consumer decisions. The chapter also presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in this book.
