ABSTRACT
The postwar period represented a rich playground for experimentation and innovation in any artistic field. Many of the authors who would later represent Japanese animation in the world began their career in this period, from the most experimental Kuri Yōji, to the entertainment animators at Tōei, to the first filmmakers of aliens and erotic characters from the world of Tezuka Osamu. Last but not least, puppet animation became one of the favorite forms, thanks to great authors such as Kawamoto and Okamoto.
